Dr Anna Tipper

As a therapist, I draw from a range of different models, including Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. However, the approach that has made the greatest impact upon me, both professionally and personally, is Compassion-Focused Therapy. Developing my own self-compassion practice has completely transformed the relationship I have with myself for the better, and I love supporting others to respond more compassionately to themselves and their experiences.

I am a nature-lover and strongly believe in the therapeutic benefits of spending time in the natural world and cultivating a sense of wonder for the beauty that surround us.

When I am not at work, you will find me spending time with my husband and three children, out walking our dog, running, listening to podcasts, singing, paddleboarding, beachcombing in Devon, or possibly suspended from the ceiling in my aerial yoga hammock!

I’m a Trainee Clinical Psychologist, currently completing a 3-year Doctorate in Clinical Psychology to be a fully qualified Clinical Psychologist. I have experience working in the NHS with adults, children, young people, people with learning disabilities, and their families.

In my work, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, however I particularly like using Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Both approaches this group is based on! I love these approaches as they are based on working with people to develop their ability to be compassionate towards themselves and others, to help to prevent suffering and move towards a full life, despite what challenges life can throw at us. Something which has also helped me in my personal life.

Outside of work, I have loved wildlife, particularly bird-watching, since I was a little girl! I believe nature can work wonders for both our physical and mental health. I enjoy going on long walks with my partner, visiting the beach and I am well known for enjoying relaxing at a spa!
